For those who live in Laguna and don't have the luxury of a washer and dryer at home, you either got the job done at Laguna Laundry or Legion Laundromat. Recently, Laguna Laundry went out of business, and from the looks of the shelled interior through the panes of exterior glass, the only place in town to do your laundry in coin-operated machines is Legion Laundromat. I am one of those people, so the trek is an extra 3 minutes by car, but I am pleased to report that both the wash and dry machines are a step up. The previous owner, Lee, upgraded them only a few years ago. New owner Marcus Vallejos plans to replace another row of older machines due to increased demand. Marcus has been in the business for eight years and owns two other Laundromats in Oceanside. The Legion staff consists of the effervescent Catalina, a 7-year employee, and her handy heavy lifting helper Javier. Petra, who is relatively new, is determined to learn all the local customers' names and handle what gets dropped off and picked up. Wash and fold service. We live in a small building with s single on-site washer and dryer. Eight or nine of us from four different households were curious about getting a wash and fold service. I'm sure we'd be more than happy to allow a responsible teen or young adult help us with this and were wondering whether that might be a good arrangement for someone. I suspect we're talking about a maximum typical volume of twenty to thirty loads per week which can be spread throughout the week.
